Is Spring and Summer The Best Time To Buy A Home?

We know inventory is tight but now through summer is still the best time to buy a home. There are many reasons why and we have listed a few for you below.

More homes to choose from
Yes, we know inventory is tight, but keep an eye out as more homes will go on the market. Plenty of people wait until their yards and gardens look their best. Many have kids in school making the summer months a good time to move if the house sells quickly.

Lawns and gardens are in bloom
It’s easier to tell what the landscaping looks like in spring and summer. Lawns are green and flowers are in bloom. You will get a better idea of what you will need to do with the lawn and maintenance around the house. This point is aimed at those who live in colder climates of course. You won’t have to worry about this in areas without distinct weather fluctuations.

Neighbors are out
Everyone has a different idea of what they want in a neighborhood. Some want a social environment and others want quiet. Drive through a neighborhood at various times of the day when the weather is nice to get an idea of what your street of interest looks like. If you have kids it will be nice to see plenty of other kids out and about.

There is more time to house hunt
Without the demands of a busy school season, if you have kids, there is more time to get out and house hunt. As well, the summer can be a slower time for many before the holiday season hits in the fall.

Anytime of the year can be a great time to buy a home and homes can be found during any season. The downside is typically inventory and market conditions. There is one more important thing to note about spring and summer…….with more homes on the market comes more buyers. Competition gets fierce once the bidding starts!
